Pre-1880 Street Names

Anyone who has done any study of local history knows that the current system of naming streets wasn’t always in place.  We can thank Mayor Thomas Bennett for establishing the functional, if unimaginative, pattern of numbers and letters.  The building stands on what is now the southeast corner of South B and 6th, but in 1867, when it presumably was built, that address was Market and Marion Streets.
